If you love art and are always looking for new cultural experiences in Dallas, the Dallas Museum of Art’s new exhibition will arrive next March and it promises to be magical. “For a Dreamer of Houses” is a celebration of the spaces we inhabit and brings artwork to the museum from several artists that have just been acquired, as well as others already in the permanent collection.

You can expect to see the most colorful murals, interactive installations, sculptures, and other art forms at the DMA starting on March 15.

The exhibit will be open to the public until January 31, 2021, so you have plenty of time to head on over and check it out.

Being a part of this artistic experience requires a $9 ticket. You can get a discount if you are a student and the same applies to seniors and the military. DMA Members and children 11 and under are free.

The inspiration behind this exhibition is the French philosopher Gaston Bachelard, who spent his life analyzing the psychological and emotional significance of rooms and houses.

The selection of the pieces at this exhibit was made considering how every artist “articulates and reimagines home and how the house is a metaphor for the relationship between ourselves and the external world,” states at the museum’s website.

“For a Dreamer of Houses” will include installations of Alex Da Corte, Francisco Moreno, and Do Ho Suh, as well as large scale pieces by Pipilotti Rist and Janine Antoni.

A broad selection of works from the museum’s permanent collection will also be part of the exhibit.

If you are a member of the Dallas Museum of Art, lucky you! You can see the exhibit before its formal opening on the members-only preview happening on March 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Also, for those interested in knowing more about the artists and their work, there will be an artist panel you can attend. This event will be held on April 30, at 7:00 p.m. Artist Olivia Erlanger, Francisco Moreno, and Ej Hill will be speaking.
