Mark Flood’s NFT exhibit presented in person and in virtual reality
Closing Saturday, June 12, Ever Gold (Projects) in conjunction with the Museum of Crypto Art present “Dominoes,” a solo exhibition by Mark Flood, the artist’s fourth at the gallery.
In recent years, Flood has engaged with digital images, memes and symbols of consumerism like corporate logos and typography in his work. What better-prepared artist to tackle the new realm of NFTs (non-fungible tokens)? These NFTs depict a series of images Flood refers to as “dominoes” because they remind him of classic domino games from his childhood.
The show is presented in virtual reality on the MOCA website while the paintings, which Flood sees as “portraits” of the NFTs, are on exhibition at Ever Gold in the Minnesota Street Project.
The MOCA exhibition actually takes you inside domino images revealing entire 3D worlds far beyond what can be depicted on a canvas. Digital art marketplace SuperRare has also released Flood’s NFTs from the series for sale under the name american_buffet.
