DAY FOUR

i woke up really early and couldn’t go back to sleep
it was the weekend of the festival
i could hear excitement when I woke up
the humidity bounced off the limits of my body
I remembered the dream I had just come up out of but I didn’t want to
when i bought the cold drink my money looked like blue tickets
and all the decorations were around town
i had changed towns but the walk I took was still familiar
paper mache flowers and red and white striped poles
looking like mcdonalds straws
everyone flipping coins about their decisions;
party girls are only ever in our lives for so long
they have to go take more pictures of their parent’s pool
and drive around with coffee drinks

my dad called me to tell me he had been thinking about More fun
More fun was the video arcade we went to when I was growing up

it smelled like car exhaust and I loved it
now is the time of year that makes it two years
since I have been to rose hill

sometimes you are just making a map of places
sometimes you really aren’t

arcades are the places we go to play games
heaven is the place where angels hang out and sit in cloud-chairs
